Fleetwood Town have signed Swiss-American goalkeeper Brendan Moore after a trial spell with the League One club.

Moore has been training with the Cod Army since the start of the year, having graduated from North Carolina University in December.

"He had a couple of offers from teams in the MLS, but he wanted to try his luck in England," manager Graham Alexander told the club website., external

"He's got a lot of potential and is very highly thought of in America."

Moore was with the North Carolina Tar Heels for five years, but only earned a starting role in his final season.

"I'm an aspiring pro so once an opportunity came along to play at the Mecca of football which is England, I decided to come over here and make the jump over the pond," he said.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe has signed a new contract.

The 20-year-old former Everton youth-team player signed a short-term deal with the club in January.
