Dundee United: Ryan McGowan appeal against ban rejected
- Published
Dundee United's Ryan McGowan has had his appeal against a two-match ban rejected by the Scottish FA.
The Australian defender had claimed for wrongful dismissal after being ordered off for a challenge on Celtic's Liam Henderson in the Scottish Cup replay.
The disciplinary tribunal has applied a two-match suspension, with one match to be served immediately and one match to be served in the Scottish Cup.
McGowan will now miss United's home match with Ross County next Saturday.
United lost the match 4-0, with Celtic's Anthony Stokes also receiving a red card for lashing out at Paul Paton.
Afterwards, Celtic manager Ronny Deila labelled McGowan's challenge as "stupid".
