Colchester came from behind to beat Barnsley and boost their hopes of avoiding relegation from League One.

The Tykes, who are now seven points off the play-offs, led when George Waring converted Conor Hourihane's free-kick.

The U's levelled when Gavin Massey poked home Jacob Murphy's cross and the striker then set up their next two goals in the last 10 minutes, a Murphy header and George Moncur finish.

Humes on Colchester v Barnsley

Colchester United boss Tony Humes told BBC Radio Essex:

"First half we were a little bit cagey, a bit tense. Overall, we just needed to free ourselves up and give it a go."

"There was a bit of passion shown in the dressing room at half-time. Second half, we utilised the width and got hold of the game."

"As long as the players keep building in confidence and keep working as hard as they can, we've got to believe that it's on (avoiding relegation)."
