WSL 2: Doncaster go clear top as Yeovil beat Reading

Doncaster Rovers Belles moved one point clear at the top of Women's Super League Two after a 1-1 draw at Everton.

Meanwhile, Reading slipped to second after a 4-2 home loss to Yeovil Town.

Doncaster and Reading both went into Saturday's games with 100% records in the second tier.

FA Cup semi-finalists Everton remain unbeaten, with three draws from four league games since being relegated, while Yeovil move up to third thanks to their second successive win.

At Farnborough, Reading led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Bonnie Horwood's long-range strike but Yeovil fought back after the break to lead 2-1, with Helen Bleazard and substitute Alys Hinchcliffe on the scoresheet.

England striker Fran Kirby drew Reading level with her 11th goal in four league games but Yeovil restored their advantage moments later through captain Corinne Yorston.

Hinchcliffe added her second and Yeovil's fourth late on to secure a victory, which saw the visitors exact revenge for the reverse scoreline when the two sides met earlier this season.

"At half-time we said let's believe in ourselves and go for it," Glovers boss Jamie Sherwood told BBC Sport.

"We gave them too much respect in the first half. To have won 4-2, I think makes a statement."

Reading boss Kelly Chambers said her side failed to 'turn up'.

"I can't put my finger on why. I know the level my players can play at and they were nowhere near that today," Chambers added.

At Widnes, winger Sue Smith put the Belles ahead direct from a corner, before Doncaster goalkeeper Nicola Hobbs saved a Michelle Hinnigan penalty to deny Everton an equaliser.

But the hosts did draw level after the break through Kelly Jones to deny Doncaster a fourth consecutive league win of 2015.
