Steve Bruce: Hull City boss warns that more points are needed

Hull City have an "outstanding chance" to survive in the Premier League but manager Steve Bruce has warned they need points from their last four games.

Michael Dawson's goal beat Liverpool on Tuesday and moved Bruce's side four points clear of the bottom three.

"We have still got a bit to do, I don't think 34 points is enough," said Bruce, whose side finished 16th in the top flight last season.

"We have given ourselves an outstanding chance but that is all it is."

He added: "You can't bring the players down and I didn't want to but we will certainly remind them tomorrow that it's not job done."

Hull are now 15th but just eight points separate the bottom six clubs, although basement side Burnley looking increasingly likely to suffer an immediate return to the Championship.

Bruce said this week that most of his squad would see their wages cut by 40-50% should they go down.

But the Tigers ended a run of six games without a win by beating Crystal Palace 2-0 on Saturday and recorded back-to-back Premier League clean sheets for the first time since 2013 to earn a deserved win over Liverpool.

"We showed some of the resilience we have shown over the last few years since I've been here," added the 54-year-old, whose side play three of their remaining four matches at home.

"It is never easy in the Premier League against anyone but home advantage can give you an advantage. The win stands us in good stead but we have got Arsenal on Monday night so have to be at our best again."

After the visit of Arsenal, the Tigers meet fellow strugglers Burnley at the KC Stadium and face a trip to Tottenham before hosting Manchester United on the final day.
