Ex-Hereford United defender Tony James, one of the mainstays of the disbanded old club, has returned to Edgar Street to join the reformed Hereford FC.

The 36-year-old played the majority of his career for the Bulls before joining Weymouth, then moving to Burton Albion.

"Tony James will be a great signing," boss Peter Beadle said. "His experience and character will be hugely influential in the upcoming seasons."

Beadle has brought back three other players with past Bulls connections.

Back to basics for the new Bulls

Hereford FC, the club created following Hereford United's collapse in December 2014, will start life next season in the Midland League - the ninth tier of English football.

Goalkeeper Harvey Rivers, who started out with Hereford United before doing his scholarship at Cheltenham Town, has returned to Edgar Street after spending last season as second-choice at Gloucester City.

Dylan Bonella, captain of the club's successful youth team under Beadle in 2013-14, also returns after playing last season for Frome in the Southern League Premier.

Max Kontic-Coveney, who was part of that same youth team, has also been signed up, having finished last season a division lower down with Southern League Division One South & West side Evesham United.
