AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has signed a new contract with the League Two side.
The 33-year-old scored 15 goals in 52 appearances for the Dons last season after joining from Gillingham.
"I think I have to apologise for making the fans wait for me to sign," he told the club website., external
"I had to take a few things into consideration, but in my heart of hearts I always thought this was where I would end up."
Akinfenwa, famous for his 16-stone frame, had considered a move to the United States before re-signing at Kingsmeadow.
"I met with a couple of clubs in America and there was also interest from League One and League Two," he added.
"You can only feel blessed that there are people interested in your services, but my heart has always been with AFC Wimbledon."
Dons manager Neal Ardley said he was "delighted" that the former Swansea and Northampton player had decided to extend his spell with the south-west London club.
"I knew he would have interest from elsewhere before he went away for the summer," said Ardley.
"Bayo mentioned that he was going to America and he wanted to have a look at that, but he said if he came back here then he would sign for us.
"He has been true to his word and I did not expect anything less from him."
Wimbledon have not disclosed the length of Akinfenwa's new contract.
