WSL 1: Notts County Ladies 0-1 Bristol Academy
- Published
Jade Boho Sayo scored the only goal as bottom club Bristol Academy beat Notts County for their first league win of the season after making a 4,000-mile trip back from international duty.
She returned from Equatorial Guinea duty on Tuesday following a 15-hour trek and headed the winner from a deflected shot after 21 minutes.
Notts' Dunia Susi nodded against the post before an audacious 40-yard effort from Jade - who has scored in each of her four Vixens games following a July move - hit the bar.
Laura Bassett wasted a great chance for the hosts, firing over from six yards.
Victory moves the Vixens to within one point of safety, while defeat for Notts came just four days after their Women's FA Cup final loss at Wembley.
The result saw the Magpies drop to fifth in the table, below Manchester City on goal difference and four points from the summit, with every team above them holding at least one game in hand.
Manager Willie Kirk picked Jade up from the airport on Tuesday morning after she flew via Frankfurt following a missed connecting flight to Madrid.
When she last flew back from international commitments, she came off the bench to score twice against Aston Villa as Bristol claimed their first win of 2015.
