Alex Revell celebrates one of his goals against Bournemouth
Alex Revell scored twice as Cardiff City beat newly-promoted Bournemouth.
Tokelo Rantie put the Cherries ahead when he rounded goalkeeper Simon Moore after beating the offside trap.
Cardiff hit back when Joe Ralls fired-in from 20 yards before Revell scored from close range after Bournemouth failed to clear a corner.
Revell, preferred to Sammy Ameobi, extended the lead after 63 minutes before Marc Pugh's 70th minute angled drive gave Bournemouth hope.
Bournemouth - who won the Championship last season - split their squad resources with a friendly away to Hoffenheim on Saturday,
But Revell's performance means he has made a strong case for inclusion in the Bluebirds' opening Championship match against Fulham on Saturday, 8 August.
The Cottagers' manager Kit Symons was among the crowd, and saw Cardiff show real resilience to hang on for victory,
