Truro City manager Steve Tully says he is disappointed that his side only came away with a draw at Margate in their opening National League South match.

Ed Palmer had his 79th-minute penalty saved by Nikki Bull, denying Truro a win for their 666-mile journey.

Danny Green gave Margate a 50th-minute lead before debutant Aaron Dawson equalised 15 minutes later.

"We're disappointed we didn't win. With the amount of chances, we made we could have won 4-1," said Tully.

It was Truro's first game since winning promotion from the Southern Premier League in May.

"We'll take a point, it's been a long old trip and we're delighted to come away with something," Tully told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"The major positives were the fighting spirit in the team, the way we reacted when we were a goal down and the never-say-die attitude that we've got.

"The last 20 minutes, if we're in a game teams will know it, because we'll never give up."
