Manchester City remain top of their Continental Cup group after overcoming fellow Women's Super League One side Sunderland 3-1 at Hetton-Le-Hole.

Nikita Parris and Steph Houghton put the holders 2-0 up before Gemma Wilson responded before the break.

Toni Duggan added a third from the penalty spot in injury time after Wilson brought Parris down in the area.

City and Liverpool remain the only sides in Group Two with a 100 % record after the Reds beat Durham 1-0.

Natasha Dowie came off the bench to score Liverpool's winner against the WSL 2 side on 66 minutes.

Meanwhile, Reading beat London Bees 3-0 in their all-WSL 2 Group One game.

Lois Roche and Helen Ward struck for Reading before the break, with substitute Bianca Bragg completing the comfortable win late on.
