Alex Rodman has also played for Gateshead, Tamworth, Aldershot, York City and Grimsby Town.

Newport County pair Lenell John-Lewis and Alex Rodman are both in contention to face Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Striker John-Lewis has had a hamstring injury while winger Rodman has been troubled by a calf problem.

Both players have returned to training and boss Terry Butcher is delighted to have them back as his side target their first League Two win of the season.

"It's good to have them back because they are the experienced players," Butcher said.

"With Matty Taylor coming back in eventually, that's up to the experienced level that we want."

Defender Taylor and winger Nathan Ralph remain a few weeks away from returning to action, while defender Andrew Hughes remains a long-term absentee.

But former England captain Butcher is relieved his side's injury problems are now easing and is pleased with the competition for places.

"We're getting one or two people back from injury and the squad is bulking up and there's more competition for places," Butcher added.

"It keeps players on the edge and keeps them looking over their shoulders.

"We have got a big enough squad now and we've got players that are fighting for places

"We've worked hard on defensive organisation and we've also worked hard on scoring goals because if we're conceding goals we've got to score more than the opposition.

"But the boys have put a lot of effort into it which they always do."
