Luton Town striker Jack Marriott has apologised after being sent off for a gesture towards the away supporters in Tuesday's victory over Leyton Orient.

The 20-year-old was sent off with 10 minutes to go in Town's 2-1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory.

"Just like to apologise to the club and everyone involved for last night's incident," he said on Twitter. , external

"It was very out of character for me - I've let the manager, the fans and my teammates down."

He added: "I made a mistake and am very disappointed in myself, I will learn from this."

Last month, Marriott, who has scored twice for the Hatters since his summer move from Ipswich, signed a contract to keep him at Kenilworth Road until the summer of 2017, with the option of extending to 2019.
