Bristol Academy ended their 13-year top-flight stay by beating Liverpool in a six-goal thriller on the final day of the Women's Super League One season.

Caroline Weir's header put Bristol ahead early, only for Hannah Short to nod into her own net at the other.

Christie Murray's lob restored the hosts' lead before Weir added a third and Tatiana Pinto made it 4-1.

Natasha Dowie pulled a goal back for a Liverpool side that begin their Champions League campaign on Wednesday.

The Reds travel to Brescia for the first leg of their round of 32 tie, then return to Widnes next Sunday to host Notts County in their Continental Cup semi-final.
