Hartlepool defender Carl Magnay has been given a six-game ban and fined £750 for spitting at a spectator in the 2-1 loss to Wycombe.

The former Chelsea trainee, 26, was later charged with misconduct by the Football Association.

He denied the charge, but was found guilty after a personal hearing.

Magnay is available for Saturday's game against Luton as the ban has been set aside pending written reasons for the disciplinary panel's decision.

"The club is extremely disappointed by the decision of the independent regulatory commission following the charge made against Carl," a Hartlepool statement read., external

"We will now await the written reasons for their verdict before deciding how best to proceed but would like to make it absolutely clear that Carl retains our full and unwavering support."

The right-back scored an equaliser in the game against Wycombe, but was later sent off for a clash with Ryan Sellers.
