Brentford enjoyed their second successive Championship victory under interim manager Lee Carsley as they beat Wolves 2-0 at Molineux.

Bees striker Marco Djuricin struck the first goal of the night on 17 minutes.

After being fed by Alan Judge, his first-time shot on the half volley took a big deflection, looping wickedly in off Danny Batth's shoulder.

Brentford sub Phillipp Hofmann then rounded home keeper Emiliano Martinez for the second two minutes from time.

Brentford's second away win of the campaign, coming on top of Saturday's 2-1 home victory over Rotherham, helped them climb up the table to 15th.

They now stand just a point behind 12th-placed Wolves, who have fallen six points behind the top six.

Wolves created just one worthwhile chance before the break when Sheyi Ojo's left-foot shot was parried by visiting keeper David Button.

They were marginally better in the second half when boss Kenny Jackett made three substitutions, top scorer Benik Afobe skying over from eight yards before Adam Le Fondre was denied by Button at the near post.

But despite looking a threat down the right with the pace of overlapping full-back Dominic Iorfa, Wolves generally had an off-night.

Carsley's well-organised Bees handed Jackett's side a second straight defeat following the 4-2 reverse at Derby on Sunday.

The Dominic Effect . . .

Wolves full back Dominic Iorfa, who went off injured, also earned a suspension, for his late tackle on James Tarkowski, his fifth booking of the season. He misses Saturday's home game with Middlesbrough.

Wolves heads coach Kenny Jackett told BBC Sport:

Kenny Jackett: Wolves boss on defeat by Brentford

"There wasn't really any element of our game that we got right. Performance-wise, we didn't impose ourselves on them.

"Brentford started better. Their passing was crisp and sharp. They dominated midfield and we didn't work hard enough to close them down.

"We let them build up some momentum and they probably deserved their lead, even though it was a deflected goal."

Brentford interim manager Lee Carsley told BBC Sport:

Lee Carsley: Brentford boss on win at Wolves

"We played with energy and enthusiasm and, with that, comes confidence. Wolves are a club ready for the Premier League. That brings an expectancy that they should be beating teams like us.

"I've been on the other end of it, where a crowd can really lift a team but there's another side to that. They can also make it a bit jittery and that's what happened."

On the vacant managerial position: "I'm still making mistakes as we go. I enjoy the coaching and I obviously enjoy winning. It was fantastic.

"But I'm still of the same mindset. It's a great job for an experienced manager to come in and take the club into the Premier League."
