Cardiff were beaten by Alex Mowatt's second half strike at Leeds

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says his side's current goal drought is the worst he has experienced during his career.

The Bluebirds' six match unbeaten run in the Championship came to an end with a 1-0 defeat at struggling Leeds United.

Slade's team have scored just twice in the last six games and the manager shares fans' frustrations.

"It's not happening for us right now," Slade said.

"I can't think when I've gone so many games without a goal.

"It's going to be a challenge because we've got to get over it and got to get scoring again. We need a reaction to ensure we get it sooner rather than later."

Cardiff's last victory, a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough on 20 October, came courtesy of a George Friend own goal.

They created little against Leeds, who secured their first home win since 4 March courtesy of Alex Mowatt's second half goal.

Ninth placed Cardiff will host Reading on Saturday without midfielder Peter Whittingham, who will be suspended.

Whittingham picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Leeds and Slade says they will miss the former Aston Villa player.

"Pete's got that bit of quality and he's our man on set plays," Slade said.

"He's played every game so far, which tells you everything. It's an opportunity for somebody else."
