Newport County 4-1 Brackley Town

Newport County romped past Brackley Town in their FA Cup replay to book a second-round trip to Barnet.

Lenell John-Lewis pounced on a sloppy back-header in the first minute, before Yan Klukowski doubled Newport's lead with a stunning free-kick.

Brackley had fought back from two goals down at home to earn a replay and a repeat was on when Aidan Hawtin scored.

But Alex Rodman restored Newport's lead when the ball fell kindly, before Hawtin deflected into his own net.

Newport County manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Wales: "We got off to a great start, 40-50 seconds the first goal, then you get 2-0 and I think we should have made the game a lot easier than it was.

"The goal [Brackley's reply] was very sloppy on our part and it gives the opposition a little bit of belief.

"I had a little dig at the players at half-time, I don't think we were seeing the game out similar to the first game, but we saw it out properly in the end... although full respect to Brackley, they came and gave us a game."
