Scots pair sign for Candystripes

Scottish pair Harry Monaghan and Jordan Allan have become the first arrivals at the Brandywell under new Derry City boss Kenny Shiels.

Midfielder Monaghan started his career at the Hibernian academy and spent time in Iceland with Vikingur.

Allan, a 20-year-old striker, moves to Derry after spells with Dundee United, Morton, Montrose and Albion Rovers.

"I've been waiting for an opportunity like this for ages - I'm really looking forward to it," said Allan.

The pair, are join the Premier Division club on one-year deals, were signed after playing for the Candystripes in a recent friendly against Limavady United.

It's a welcome boost for Shiels after midfielder Patrick McEleney moved from Derry to league champions Dundalk last week.
