Harry Panayiotou has six caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis

Leicester City striker Harry Panayiotou has joined Raith Rovers on loan until the end of the season, but manager Ray McKinnon is tempering expectations.

The 21-year-old replaces Mitch Megginson in the Rovers squad, the 23-year-old leaving for Alloa Athletic.

Rovers chief executive Eric Drysdale said: "Ray is anxious that supporters don't just expect Harry to come in and start scoring goals for fun.

"He's a young player and still learning."

Panayiotou, who has six caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis, was the English Premiership club's player of the year last season in their Under-21 squad.

He has made one appearance for Leicester's first team and netted 11 goals in a 10-game spell last season for their youth team.

"Obviously the FA Premier League Under-21s is a high standard, but competitive first-team action will be a step up in terms of intensity and so on," added Drysdale.

"We are looking for the whole team to work hard for each other and the manager has no doubt that, if they continue to do that, we will be converting some of the chances we have been creating."

Panayiotou could make his Rovers debut in Saturday's match against Queen of the South should he receive international clearance.

The striker's arrival comes shortly after it was announced that fellow forward Megginson had left Stark's Park "by mutual consent".

Aberdeen-born Megginson, who joined Rovers from Dumbarton last summer, has joined Championship rivals Alloa Athletic.

He scored once in 22 appearances this season.
