Irish Premiership: Carrick Rangers 1-5 Glenavon

Glenavon ran out easy winners in Tuesday's rearranged Irish Premiership match away to Carrick Rangers.

Joel Cooper shot the Lurgan men into a sixth-minute lead, Eoin Bradley made it 2-0 and then Conor Dillon headed in from a Kevin Braniff corner.

Braniff beat Carrick keeper Brian Neeson with a free-kick early in the second half and skipper Ciaran Martyn's close-range strike made it five.

Miguel Chines got the lone Rangers reply in the 76th minute.

Glenavon remain fourth in the Irish Premiership table, but are now just five points behind third-placed Cliftonville with a game in hand.

Carrick are one from bottom, three points better off than Warrenpoint Town.

Carrick Rangers manager Gary Haveron: "It was just an embarrassment from start to finish.

"Glenavon looked fresher and showed more hunger and we got exactly what we deserved.

"We were a million miles off it tonight and that is very concerning and disappointing."

Glenavon assistant manager Paul Millar: "It was a magnificent performance from us. I don't think there will be too many teams who come down here and score five.

"We played some god football on a pitch which was an absolute bog, and it could have been seven or eight."
