Guernsey FC have conceded 13 goals in their last five games

Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance has urged his side to fight their way out of their current malaise.

The club travel to Whyteleafe hoping to avoid a club-record sixth successive defeat, having dropped to 11th in Isthmian League Division One South.

"We're not getting any results and momentum-wise we're on that downward spiral," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We've got to try and fight our way out of it, someone come up with something that might pull us back round again."

Guernsey's most recent setback was a 4-1 home loss to fellow play-off chasers Hastings United, and the club have not won a game since beating Walton Casuals 6-2 at the end of January.

"The competitiveness in this league is incredible, a month ago we were third, five negative results and we're down to 11th," said Vance.

"Everyone seems to put their game up when we come to town, that's the way it is."

Vance has selection problems in defence for Saturday's match.

Angus MacKay is suspended, Alex le Prevost, Sam Cochrane and Jamie Dodd are all unavailable, and goalkeeper Chris Tardif is out after suffering a badly cut lip last week.

"He's tried to avoid stitches, as if he'd have had stitches he'd have been out for two or three weeks," Vance said of Tardif's injury.

"They glued it, but it hasn't healed as he'd have liked, it's incredibly sore and it's a difficult cut to try and stabilise.

"It's a real shame because he's been up there as our leading appearance-maker this season."
