Louis Dodds: Port Vale attitude is 'similar' to Premier League leaders Leicester City

Louis Dodds has made 27 appearances for Port Vale this season.

Port Vale midfielder Louis Dodds says their attitude is similar to Leicester City's Premier League title challenge.

Vale have lost just two of their last 10 matches and are ninth in League One, three points outside the play-offs.

"All we're trying to do is win the next game and hopefully that'll stand us in good stead," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"It is similar to what Leicester are doing. They're not talking about winning the Premier League, they're just going about their business."

He continued, "There's massive belief in us but if you look too far into the distance, you're tripping up from what's in front of you."

Despite a proposed takeover of Vale falling through, Dodds is happy with matters on the field thanks to Vale boss Rob Page's regime.

"I think he's got the best out of me," he said. "There's someone behind you that's got belief and lets you do what you want on the pitch with freedom.

"He wants us to play expansive football, get on it and express ourselves."

Dodds, 29, has made over 300 appearances for the club in an eight-year spell with the club after joining from Leicester.

"I want to stay," he continued. "Hopefully, if I get a two-year deal, I'll get a testimonial or be in line for one, so I'll hint at that.

"I'm happy to stay and my family are settled, so I don't want to play for anyone else."
