An injury-time free-kick from Steph Houghton gave Manchester City victory over Notts County in the opening game of the Women's Super League season.

City's Jill Scott and Houghton had early efforts cleared off the line.

Before the break, Jess Clarke missed from the spot for County after being brought down by Scott, while keeper Megan Walsh denied City's Toni Duggan after Dani Buet felled Nikita Parris.

Houghton won it moments from the end, beating Walsh from 30 yards.

England and County defender Sophie Bradley made her return to league action after almost 21 months out following a major knee injury.
