Ollie Watkins: Exeter City striker eyes move to 'bigger team' with continued good form

Exeter City forward Ollie Watkins says he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Matt Grimes and secure a big money move away from St James Park.

The 20-year-old has scored four goals this month, a run that has coincided with Exeter going unbeaten in their last six League Two games.

"It's better for the club and for your career," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"The aim is to do something like Matt Grimes has done, play 50-odd league games and move onto a bigger team."

Like Grimes, who left Exeter for Swansea City in January 2015 for a fee of £1.75m, Watkins has come up through the Grecians' academy.

The club's academy has also nurtured striker Tom Nichols, who left for Peterborough United in February after impressing against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

"That is the aim for every player, to play at the highest level possible," added Watkins.

"It's a no-brainer really, that is the goal, to try to achieve something and aim for a higher level,.

"But that will come hand-in-hand if I just keep performing and I'm just glad I'm getting a chance in the team."
