Kilmarnock: Plan for fans' group to have voice on board

Kilmarnock supporters could soon have representation on the club's board.

An agreement has been reached between the Kilmarnock Supporters Society, known as the Killie Trust, and the Rugby Park club for the scheme.

The plan initially is to raise £100,000 to bring the Supporters Society's shareholding to a level that would provide them with a place on the board of directors.

Kilmarnock recently announced an annual loss of £724,406.

With the threat of relegation hanging over the Ayrshire team this season, more difficult financial times could lie ahead.

A joint statement said: "The Kilmarnock Supporters' Society (Killie Trust) and Kilmarnock Football Club are delighted to announce that heads of terms have been agreed to enable the supporters' society to commence the process of investing in the club with a view to obtaining full board membership status for a duly appointed representative of the supporters' society.

"The heads of terms will be signed at the club's AGM on Tuesday 26 April 2016, after which the supporters' society will work with the club to take this exciting initiative towards a formal launch.

"It is hoped that all Kilmarnock FC supporters will recognise that this innovative approach will inject valuable working capital into the club while at the same time securing a voice in the governance of the club."

Kilmarnock also need to replace chairman Jim Mann, who is stepping down from the position at the AGM.
