Chris Barker: Aldershot Town release player-assistant manager

Aldershot Town have released player-assistant manager Chris Barker following three seasons with the club.

The 36-year-old defender made 87 appearance for the National League side and spent the final 15 games of the 2014-15 season as caretaker boss.

Meanwhile, new Shots boss Garry Waddock has extended the contract of midfielder Jake Gallagher for a further year.

New deals have been offered to Cheye Alexander, Omar Beckles, Jack Saville and Charlie Walker.

Goalkeepers Phil Smith and Dan Thomas, defender Sean McGinty and midfielders Sam Hatton, Jim Stevenson and Dan Walker have all been released.
