Blackpool have appointed former Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer as their new manager.

He replaces Neil McDonald, who left following Blackpool's relegation from League One, and has signed a one-year rolling contract at Bloomfield Road.

Bowyer, 44, was in charge at Blackburn from March 2013 to his dismissal in November 2015 following two earlier spells as caretaker.

He becomes Blackpool's eighth manager since 2012.
