Dan Sparkes scored six goals in 40 games for Braintree last season

Torquay United have signed Dan Sparkes following the winger's exit from Braintree Town.

The 24-year-old played 40 games and scored six goals for the Essex club in the National League last season, helping them reach the National League play-off semi-finals.

Gulls player-manager Kevin Nicholson said: "Dan's very hungry to prove himself in a full-time environment.

"He's very quick and direct, plus his delivery into the box is very good."
