Sportswear manufacturer Puma has blamed faulty material after the shirts of four Switzerland players ripped during their Euro 2016 match against France.

Midfielder Granit Xhaka had to change his shirt twice in the first half after it ripped up the side.

One of the Adidas footballs also burst during the game after a tackle between Antoine Griezmann and Valon Behrami.

"There was a faulty batch of material in which the yarn was damaged during production," Puma said.

"Seeing our shirts being ripped in a match was the first time we have experienced such an issue."
