George Moncur scored 23 goals in 97 games for Colchester after joining the club from West Ham in 2014
Championship side Barnsley have signed Colchester midfielder George Moncur for an undisclosed fee, which BBC Essex reports to be about £500,000., external
Moncur scored 14 goals in 51 games for the U's last season, but could not help them avoid relegation from League One.
The 22-year-old had also held talks with Peterborough, where personal terms had been verbally agreed, according to Posh director of football, Barry Fry.
Details of the length of Moncur's contract have not been disclosed.
