Walsall have signed midfielder Joe Edwards on a two-year deal from last season's League One rivals Colchester.
The 25-year-old, who can play at full-back or in central midfield, made 40 league starts for the U's after signing in July 2015, having begun his career as a trainee at Bristol City.
He becomes the fourth midfielder signed for the Saddlers by Jon Whitney since being appointed manager on 1 June.
Edwards follows Kacy Milan Butterfield, Erhun Oztumer and Florent Cuvelier.
He will officially complete his move on 1 July when his Colchester contract expires.
"I'm delighted to be here," said Gloucester-born Edwards. "I've played against Walsall a few times before and they've always been a very good footballing side."
Manager Whitney added: "Joe is an experienced front-foot defender who is a leader on and off the pitch. I have been impressed with his performances when he has played against us over the years and he will be a valuable and influential member of the squad."
