Damien McCrory has signed a new two-year deal at promoted Burton Albion.

The 26-year-old's contract was about to expire and there had been speculation the defender could join former Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at QPR.

McCrory has been a key player for Burton in their rise from League Two to the Championship in successive seasons.

"We are delighted that Damien has committed to another two seasons," said Nigel Clough, who returned as Burton boss following Hasselbaink's exit.

"With him being out of contract he will have had other offers, but he wants to continue with us."

Irishman McCrory has made 154 league appearances since joining from Dagenham & Redbridge in 2012.

"I made it clear to the gaffer I wanted to get something sorted here, and now it is I can crack on and prepare for next season," he said.
