Birmingham City have signed defender Ryan Shotton on a more permanent basis from Championship rivals Derby County, for an undisclosed fee.

Shotton, 27, scored one goal in nine games in a three-month loan stay at St Andrew's at the end of last season.

The former Stoke City, Wigan Athletic and Barnsley player has signed a three-year contract, tying him to Blues until June 2019.

He becomes Blues' second summer signing after midfielder Robert Tesche.

The club, who are set to change ownership in the coming weeks, finished 10th in the Championship last term, 11 points outside the play-off places.
