Cambridge United head of recruitment Greg Abbott has been appointed chief scout by League One side Bradford City.

Former midfielder Abbott made 343 appearances for the Bantams in nine seasons with the club as a player.

The 52-year-old started his coaching career at Leeds United following his retirement, before a five-year spell as manager of Carlisle.

He joined the U's in April, having been dismissed from his role as Notts County assistant boss in March 2015.
