Forward Jon Parkin has left National League side Forest Green Rovers after terminating his contract by mutual consent.

The 34-year-old joined from Fleetwood Town in 2014 and scored 44 goals in 96 appearances for the club.

"I think he understands [that his exit] is just football, we need to evolve and change things," boss Mark Cooper said.

"He's been great with the younger players and will continue to train with us for the rest of the week."
