Hearts owner Ann Budge to make second attempt to join SPFL board

Hearts owner Ann Budge lost out on election last year to Dundee United's Stephen Thompson

Hearts owner Ann Budge will make a second attempt to be elected to the SPFL board, after narrowly missing out last year.

Budge will seek election at the annual general meeting on July 20

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawell and Partick Thistle managing director Ian Maxwell also intend to stand.

However, Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has decided not to vie for one of the three available positions.

Slater signs for English League Two side Colchester United

Craig Slater has been at Kilmarnock since July 2012

Colchester United have signed Kilmarnock midfielder Craig Slater on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Slater, 22, was out of contract with the Rugby Park side and rejected a new deal, moving to League Two despite interest from Aberdeen.

The Scotland Under-21 international joined Killie in 2012, scoring nine goals in 85 matches across four years.

Celtic face trip to Gibraltar in Champions League

Celtic will face Lincoln Red Imps in the Champions League second qualifying round after the Gibraltar side surprised Estonians Flora Tallin.

The semi-professionals from the Rock won 2-0 at Victoria Stadium to prevail 2-1 on aggregate.

Jospeh Chipolina levelled the aggregate scores from the penalty spot after 15 minutes and Antonio Calderon added the second with 11 minutes left.

Celtic will travel to Gibraltar for the first leg on Tuesday 12 July (19:00), with the return leg at Celtic Park on Wednesday 20 July (19:45).

Neilson unhappy at challenge on keeper Jack Hamilton

Jack Hamilton needed stitches after the challenges from Ofuso Appiah

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson labelled a challenge on Jack Hamilton unacceptable after the young goalkeeper was left needing stitches after their 4-2 win over Infonet Tallinn.

Defender Ofuso Appiah clattered into the 22-year-old in the closing stages of the Europa League qualifier.

It left a sour note on an afternoon when Hearts won 6-3 on aggregate.

"I was really disappointed with it and I think the referee got done," Neilson told BBC Scotland.
