Connah's Quay were denied a notable Europa League draw as Vojvodina struck a late winner in a one-sided second qualifying round first leg.
The visitors withstood heavy pressure in a goalless first half as goalkeeper John Danby was kept busy in Serbia.
Vojvodina had 24 shots to the Nomads' one, with 87% possession, and the Welsh side were finally beaten by Aleksandar Palocevic's 86th-minute goal.
The second leg takes place at Rhyl's Belle Vue Stadium on Thursday, 21 July.
Connah's Quay are Wales' only remaining representatives in the competition after Bala Town and Llandudno bowed out.
The Nomads progressed to the second qualifying round after beating Norwegian side Stabaek 1-0 on aggregate.
