Michael Timlin made 21 League One appearances last season, scoring two goals
Southend United midfielder Michael Timlin will miss six weeks of action after straining his hamstring in a pre-season friendly against West Ham.
The 31-year-old, who missed the final nine League One games of last season, had been looking at a return to the starting line-up.
Timlin is joined on the sidelines by fellow midfielder Anthony Wordsworth, who also has a hamstring problem.
Southend start the season against Gillingham on Saturday, 6 August.
