Jack Whatmough: Portsmouth defender knee injury not as bad as feared
- Published
A knee injury suffered by Portsmouth defender Jack Whatmough is not as serious as first feared but is still set to rule him out for two months.
The 19-year-old was forced off during Saturday's 0-0 draw at Crewe.
Whatmough was sidelined for almost a year following cruciate ligament damage against Cheltenham in March 2015.
"It's disappointing for Jack as he has worked really hard to get himself back into the side," Portsmouth first-team coach Ian Foster said.
Adam Barton is set to deputise for Whatmough against Morecambe on Tuesday.
"There's lots of support for Jack here at the club," Foster told BBC Radio Solent. "Hopefully, he will get himself back on the pitch in no time."
