Alex Neil, the manager of Maddison's parent club Norwich City, says he sent him out on loan because he didn't want to stall his progress but he looks forward to him playing for the Canaries "sooner rather than later". (Daily Record)

"Ibrox 71" and "Durrant dived" was etched on to the bus, references to the Ibrox disaster of 1971 in which 66 fans died, and to the bad tackle by Aberdeen's Neil Simpson on Rangers midfielder Ian Durrant in 1988. Former Rangers midfielder and manager Graeme Souness thinks Celtic could be in for another heavy defeat in the Champions League, with Scottish teams "as far off as we have ever been" in terms of competing. However, he says if the Celtic crowd get right behind their team they could catch City on a bad day. (Daily Record)
