Derek Adams: Plymouth Argyle manager says international breaks should be for all teams

Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams says all teams should have time off during the international break.

Premier League and Championship clubs will not play until mid-October because of World Cup qualifiers.

But League One and Two sides are preparing for a full schedule, including midweek EFL Trophy games.

"It's too many games, there's no doubt about it. I think that an international break should be for everybody," Adams told BBC Radio Devon.

Adams, whose side are five points clear at the top of League Two, feels that clubs lower down the leagues are forced to play too many matches over the course of a 10-month season.

"You want to play games, but we've also got a lot of games already in the league at 46," added Adams.

"It's 49 including the three games we have in the EFL Trophy. We've got the EFL Cup, that's 50, and the FA Cup is 51 as standard."
