Chester captain Luke George has been suspended for six games by the Football Association after being found guilty of a violent conduct charge.

George was originally banned for eight matches for the incident in the 23rd minute of Chester's 1-0 National League defeat by Gateshead on 6 August.

The 24-year-old denied the charge, with his suspension reduced by two games on appeal.

Details of the incident have not been released by the FA or his club.

A club statement said: "We are disappointed with the outcome but respect the process.

"We will continue to support Luke George who has conducted himself appropriately throughout this difficult time we are proud to have him as our club captain."
