Mario Balotelli hit the post for leaders Nice as they suffered a first Ligue 1 defeat of the season at Caen.

Lucien Favre's side still lead by three points despite losing to Ivan Santini's first-half penalty, which lifted the home side out of the relegation zone.

Former Liverpool forward Balotelli, who had hit six goals in his previous five league games, struck the post with a first-time shot in the 63rd minute.

The Italy striker was later booked for a foul on Ronny Rodelin.
