RB Leipzig went three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga after victory over Schalke, the newly promoted club's eighth straight league win.

Timo Werner's penalty gave the hosts the perfect start after Schalke keeper Ralf Faehrmann brought down the 20-year-old striker after just 19 seconds.

Sead Kolasinac equalised for Schalke before turning the ball into his own net from a free-kick to give Leipzig the win.

Schalke are eighth in the table.

RB Leipzig are one of two teams still unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season along with Hoffenheim, the team whose head coach is 29-year-old Julian Nagelsmann.

Hoffenheim beat Cologne 4-0 to climb to fourth in the table.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Marco Reus marked his first league game of the season by helping Borussia Dortmund beat his former club Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1.

The 27-year-old forward provided three assists in a game which saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang score twice, while Poland defender Lukasz Piszczek and France forward Ousmane Dembele also scored for the hosts.
