Schalke are eighth in the table.
RB Leipzig are one of two teams still unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season along with Hoffenheim, the team whose head coach is 29-year-old Julian Nagelsmann.
Hoffenheim beat Cologne 4-0 to climb to fourth in the table.
