Watmore was injured in the final five minutes of Saturday's win against Leicester
Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore will miss the rest of the season after scans revealed he has suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The 22-year-old was taken off on a stretcher during Sunderland's 2-1 win over Leicester on Saturday, following a collision with Christian Fuchs.
Watmore has started 11 games for David Moyes' side in the Premier League this season.
The England Under-21 international joined from Altrincham in 2013.
Sunderland have also recently lost defender Paddy McNair and midfielders Lynden Gooch and Lee Cattermole to long-term injuries.
