Newport County AFC have signed defenders Sid Nelson and Mark O'Brien from Millwall and Luton respectively, on loan until the end of the season.
Nelson, 21, arrives in time to play in the League Two match against Stevenage on 7 January, as does 24-year old O'Brien who was formerly with Derby.
"19 goals conceded in seven league games tells you that we lack defensive stability," boss Graham Westley said.
There's no disrespect to any player in that statement."
"I've seen a lot of him [Nelson] in both under-21 and League One football, where he helped his club into the play-offs last year and I'm sure that the Newport fans will love the heart and quality that he will put into defending our goal."
On O'Brien's signing, Westley commented: "As a young player, Mark performed exceptionally for Derby County. He values clean sheets and he spreads an infectious attitude towards defending."
The defenders join with Newport four points adrift at the bottom on the table.
