Peterborough moved to the top of League One after their winning start to the season continued with a convincing victory at struggling rivals Northampton.

Gwion Edwards, Junior Morias, Jack Marriott and Marcus Maddison all scored for Posh, who notched a fourth win from four, while inflicting another defeat on winless Northampton, who are now bottom.

The contest took a while to get going but Peterborough soon assumed control with Leonardo Da Silva Lopes volleying over before Edwards' run and shot from Steven Taylor's pass put them ahead on 32 minutes.

Morias was then off-target for the dominant visitors, but he fixed his radar just before half-time when he collected Edwards' throw-in and shot low into the corner.

Northampton struggled to mount any sort of comeback, and their afternoon got worse when Marriott latched onto a long ball and coolly rolled home on 75 minutes.

Alex Revell headed in Matt Grimes' corner for a consolation, but Peterborough had the final say when Maddison converted from the spot in stoppage time after Aaron Pierre tripped Marriott.
