Oxford United 1-2 Walsall

Erhun Oztumer helped inspire Walsall to their first league away win since Boxing Day at Oxford United.

Oztumer put the Saddlers ahead when he turned in Joe Edwards' left-wing cross from barely three yards out at the far post for his fifth goal of the season.

Oztumer should have had a second soon after when he was through on goal, only for Simon Eastwood to brilliantly deflect his shot for a corner.

The Saddlers dominated the first half, with Kieron Morris, Zeli Ismail and former U's forward Tyler Roberts all forcing Eastwood into saves.

Oztumer then provided the pass for Walsall to double their lead on 53 minutes when on-loan West Bromwich Albion striker Roberts turned to shoot past Eastwood from 14 yards.

After going close when Gino van Kessel stabbed a shot against the post, Oxford pulled one back when Ryan Ledson sent Mark Gillespie the wrong way from the penalty spot after Luke Leahy had brought down Rob Hall.
