FA Cup highlights: Port Vale 2-0 Oxford United

Port Vale made light of their League Two position as they reached the FA Cup second round with victory against League One side Oxford United.

Neil Aspin's team are 22nd in the fourth tier but, buoyed by a run of three wins from their past four league games, put in a dominant performance.

Gavin Gunning opened the scoring with an early header before Tom Pope doubled the advantage eight minutes after the restart.

League One side Oxford, who reached the fifth round last season, failed to register a shot on target as Vale booked their place in Monday's draw.

Vale made their seventh goalkeeping change of the season, bringing in youngster Ryan Boot in place of on-loan Dimi Evtimov.
